It's a Good Day

I sit next to a guy a work who tends to be a little overdramatic about um, EVERYTHNG. I have heard the drama about his cell phone and his new car and don't get me started on his family. I know more about this man that I think I should. This morning, though, he was back in rare form. Apparently, he had his year end review and it did not go well. Now don't get me wrong, he is a great employee with a ton of knowledge and is always helping people out. Turns out that all the extra stuff he does didn't really count for much in the grand scheme of things. Or so I've gleaned from the 6 or so times I've heard the story this morning. I'm thinking about printing this out and laying it on his desk. Subtle, eh?

Anyway, moving on to bigger and better things. I stepped on the scale Sunday morning and saw this:

That's right, I have finally hit the 30lb mark and am in the 140's!!! I couldn't believe it and had to step on the scale like three times to make sure it was right. And sure, the scale showed a different number this morning, but whatever, IT TOTALLY COUNTS. I have almost lost the equivalent of my cute little toddler, who weighs in at 31 pounds. I have to say that this is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life (and I've given birth 5 times), but it is totally worth it. I still have about 14 lbs left until I hit my goal weight, and then I'll evaluate whether or not I want to lose more. Jason is worried that I'm going to become too skinny, but I reassured him that I'm not going to lose my curves, nor would I want to.

I got on the treadmill last night without a specific goal in mind. Ultimately, I want to get up to 4 miles (and beyond), but I am not going to stress myself out about it. I started running and kept going until I couldn't go anymore. I thought about stopping after 2, but pushed myself and got in a full 3 miles. I'll take it. I have found my next 5K that I want to run. They actually have a 5K and 10K available, but I don't know if I'll be ready for a 10K by the end of January. We'll see.

Now, I know that Holly loves her some before and after pics, so here are my progression pics so far.
Starting weight - 179 lbs

10 lbs lost - 169 lbs

20 lbs lost - 159 lbs

30 lbs lost - 149
Notice the smile in the last pictures? I'm finally getting to the point where I'm happy with how I look. Funny thing though, it doesn't really sink in how much you've lost until you look back.

  1. Congratulations on hitting the 140s! I did the same scale dance last week--it's hard to believe your eyes when you're so used to seeing a much bigger number, isn't it?

You look fabulous and your before/after comparison is striking! Well done!

  2. That's what I love about progress pics, you don't see the difference until you line 'em up & that's why I'm so glad I take them along the way! Sundays WI does TOTALLY COUNT! Congrats; you are looking fierce:-) At least you know you're probably not the office downer...sounds like he's got that position locked up!

  3. Hey there! Just wanted to let you know I found your blog, how cute is it? Anyway, loved the post and I'll be back for more! I'd love for you to check out my blog, as well.
