Monday morning recap

It's Monday again, whoop whoop. Time to go through my super exciting activities over the past few days. Let's see, Thursday night I drove to Topeka for parent/teacher conferences for Paige and Elsa. I missed Cordie's because it was earlier in the day. However, the ex filled me in and it was pretty much what I expected. Cordie needs to apply herself more and pay attention to what she's doing. She has never been a strong student and probably never will be but she could do well if she tried. This being her first year of middle school, it is only going to get harder.

Elsa's meeting went well. Her teacher is very exuberant which is good for third grade, I suppose. She said Elsa is doing very well and she is super sweet and always respectful. I also really liked Paige's teacher. Now, I mentioned before that Paige was being tested for the gifted program and they recently finished the testing so we went over the results. She did extremely well in language arts, but only average to high in math and science. Her overall ranking was a 90 and she needed to score a 97 to be placed in the program. Rankings were against her age group across the country. Her teacher was really disappointed that she didn't make it but he explained that it is really the areas that the tests don't take into account where Paige excels like Music and Art. He said that her artistic ability as well as her writing skills were some of the highest he's seen in a long time. He encouraged us to explore activities in the surrounding community that would help enhance and nurture her abilities. Needless to say, I got a little teary-eyed. It is so nice to hear someone else brag on your child.
Love this girl
Saturday morning, Jason got a call from his dad asking if is was okay for him to come up to visit. Apparently there was some miscommunication with the times, however because I was expecting him around noon and he showed up around 3. So, the couple of things I wanted to do did not get done. Oh well, it did give us an excuse to clean up the kitchen and dining room which was sorely needed.

His sister ended up coming up too and they brought a ton of new clothes for Emmeline. Nana and Aunt Carla like to go garage saleing and Emmeline reaps the benefits. They also brought up an old recliner that used to be Jason's Pawpaw's. He passed away last year and Nana wanted someone else to have it. Works out for us because it is a great leather recliner that is still in good shape.

Sunday was a pretty lazy day. Worked out on the Wii Fit for a little while and it was nice to see that I have lost weight since I last used it two months ago. I then ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill which was my own little personal victory. I need to start focusing less on time, however and more on distance. I tend to play little mind games with myself when I'm watching the clock. 5K is in less than two weeks! Time to step up my game.

How was your weekend? Anything exciting happen?
