Social Media does work

Last weigh-in Wednesday for a while. Today was the last day for the MLFitcamp Challenge. I was at 152.4 today so I didn't lose any this week. I am actually okay with that for now and plan on kicking it back into gear so I can rock the DietBet Challenge. There is over $5700 at stake here and for that, I can definitely lose 6 lbs this month. Just no more free cake in the break room at work, please.

Okay, so maybe I'm late to the party on this one, but I'm still going to share anyway. Recently, I have been privy to the power of social media for myself. Now, I'm on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and Tumblr so I consider myself "linked in". Oh yeah, I'm on that too. However, I hadn't ever really benefited, so to speak, from all my connections. You may remember this post where I talked about Jason buying me a pair of running pants from his favorite store, REI. Well, I had a person from the company contact me and send me a $50 gift card! How cool is that? Completely unexpected, but such a great surprise. I'm still loving the pants, btw.

My second interaction involves Hulu+. Jason and I cancelled cable earlier this year as a way to save some money and so we have basic subscriptions to Netflix and Hulu+ so we can watch the shows that we want. The applications are viewable on TV through our Wii so we don't have to watch on our crappy computer. Recently, the shows on Hulu have been unbearably painful to watch as they stop to buffer every 10-15 seconds or so. Watching a 24 minute show in just under an hour is a little ridiculous. I sent a tweet to @hulu and actually got a response back from Hulu Support. I was both shocked and pleased. They gave me suggestions for getting it to work again and while I haven't tried them all yet, it is just really nice to know that there are companies out there who are willing to use "unconventional" method to reach out to their customers.

I'm still working on getting into the Christmas spirit. It hasn't hit me yet. I used to love this time of year and now it just stresses me out. I hate shopping and I feel like I am horrible at picking out gifts for people. Plus, I always wait until the last minute and end up more broke than usual. Ugh. I have the girls this weekend, though so I'll probably get out all the decorations and let them put up the tree. We will also be going to my aunt's house for her annual sugar cookie making party so that should be a lot of fun. Hopefully, baby girl is feeling better by then. Her cold has progressed into an ear infection so we had a little trip to the dr. yesterday morning. She's on antibiotics, so I'm hoping it will clear up soon. In the meantime, she has been very clingy to me and whiny. Oh, and then there's this:

All. Goddamned. Day. Kill me.
